TBI and Domestic Violence
My guest tonight is Gina M. who nearly died as the result of a brutal attack by her boyfriend. Her total injuries were numerous, but one of those included severe brain trauma, resulting in an aneurysm. She endured a frightening experience, untold pain, and a lengthy recovery that will continue the rest of her life, but by God’s grace lived to tell her story. It’s our hope that by sharing, Gina will be more empowered, but also that many more women will be spared the same or worse, by seeking help sooner and recognizing the signs.
In the United States, one in three women will experience domestic violence at one time in her life. While men also experience domestic violence, 85% of the victims are women. Every 9 seconds a woman is assaulted or abused. Every day in the US more than 300 woman are murdered by their husband or boyfriend. Historically females have been victimized by someone they knew.
