What a delightful book about our friends all around us. I read it and thought it was perfect for my 9year old daughter! And she loved it. She loves animals and found the stories interesting along with picturing herself right there with them. Especially the baby birds in the nest and taking care of them. Adorable.😃

This is an amazing book for all ages. The author does a great job of creating detailed descriptive words to paint the perfect mental image of each scenario, and if that wasn’t enough, there’s actual photos documenting the events that unfolded! Hootie’s Hallow is truly a magical story that’ll make you laugh, cry, and self-reflect. It’s a perfect example of how non-material things can create the best times and unforgettable memories.

Hootie’s Hollow is an intermingling of true tales from nature and an array of wildlife adventures are offered. The stories of the creatures’ activities occur in and around a wonderous old oak tree in the backyard.
Various animal behaviors often mirror corresponding human traits. There are lessons in sorrow, joy, compassion, humor and parenthood. The author also speaks to loyalty, wisdom and the meaning of family.
This is a charming collection of anecdotes and offers something for every reader. It is truly magical!

Hootie’s Hollow and the Magic Tree is truly magical. Kim Justus has used ordinary words to weave a story that delights the reader and for me, made it impossible to put the book down.

Kim Justus draws in her audience with vivid details not only about the visitors to the Magic Tree but how those very visitors affect not only each other but the humans who witness its magic. She demonstrates in her writing the intricate balance between different species who inhabit the tree and those who gaze upon it. Once I turned the last pape I found myself smiling and anxious for Kim to pick up her pen again soon.

Not only is Hootie a fun read, and the magic mysterious and heartwarming. Hootie is a true story and has been the author’s journey and her checkpoint to a happy reality. I remember a couple of years ago when hoot first came into the lives of these unsuspecting humans having their morning coffee. I bet Hootie is one of the most photographed Owls in the world. Hooties brings us to a happier place. A place of curiosity and adventure. It brings hope back into our hearts. That all of this can be good. It also opens your eyes to our own eco-systems in our yards. As you begin to imagine whats going on in our back yards. Hootie awakenings out the inner child. A great book and needed in a time where so much fakeness, corruption and harshness in the world around us. If you need a pick me up, I highly recommend this book, and the photos are incredible

5.0 out of 5 stars – Nature’s lessons not to be missed, December 1, 2019

Kim Justus’ keen eye and caring heart help her to chronicle the allegorical lives of the back-yard creatures inhabiting a very old oak tree of life, “The Magic Tree,” whose central resident is Hootie the screech owl.

This delightful tale will stimulate the imaginations of both young and old alike as we accompany Kim on her outward search for the inner answers to life questions being posed by us and for us by none other than Mother Nature herself.

This story is long on love and deep in meaning. It is a quick read that will reward you with a lifetime of thought and contemplation.
